When the Shin-yu Persecution of 1801 began, PeterKim fled with Andrew Kim carrying only religious books and sacred items,seeking refuge in Museong Mountain in Gongju. They lived in hiding, devotingthemselves to practicing the faith. Their location, however, was soondiscovered. Peter was sent to Hongju, and Andrew to Yesan. During their transfer to prison, they rejoicedtogether, filled with heavenly peace. Before parting, they said, “Tomorrow atnoon, let us meet again in heaven.” Peter Kim was imprisoned in Daeheung, andon August 25, 1801, he was taken to the town center and executed by beheading.
