Longhome to Catholic families, this area grew into a large community of believers.During the Byeongin Persecution, 37 Catholics were martyred here and thevillage was burned, but it has since been rebuilt as a major pilgrimage site.The shrine includes retreat facilities, the Way of the Cross, restoredtraditional homes of early believers, gardens, courtyards, and walkingpaths—including five scenic routes such as the “Road to Hanti.”

About the Saint
St.Peter Seo Tae-sun
Borninto a deeply faithful family, Peter Seo Tae-sun endured hardship while livingout the Gospel. After fleeing persecution in multiple regions, he settled inDaegu and raised a family. Arrested during the 1859 Gyeongsin Persecution, hesuffered torture and six months of imprisonment; though momentarily weakened,he later returned firmly to the Church. Arrested again in Mungyeong, heremained steadfast despite brutal torture and was executed for his faith at age44.
