NamyangVirgin Mary Shrine honors the unnamed martyrs whodied during the Byung-in Persecution (1866).Many martyrs held their rosaries in their final moments, praying until theirdeaths.

Inthe hills behind the shrine, a narrow path was opened to create the 20-decadeRosary Way. When viewed from above, this pilgrimage pathforms the shape of the Icon of the Merciful Mother,revealing the figures of the Virgin Mary and Jesus.

Theshrine also houses a 4-meter statue of the Merciful Jesus,blessed by Pope Benedict XVI.
