Haengju Church began in 1899 as an outstation ofYakhyeon Church and was established in 1909 as the third parish afterMyeongdong and Yakhyeon, serving the northwestern region of Gyeonggi Province.Urban development led to the parish being transferred to Susaek Church in 1957,and Haengju remained an outstation until it was elevated again to parish statuswith the establishment of the Diocese of Uijeongbu in 2004.

The wooden hanok-style church, built in 1910 and expanded in 1949, preserves aridge-beam inscription documenting its construction stages. It is designatedRegistered Cultural Heritage No. 455 by the Cultural Heritage Administration.

Served pastorally by the Servant of God Fr. Andrew Lee Soon-seong and Fr. PaulYoon Uibyeong—both of whom left a legacy of martyr-like witness—Haengju Churchholds deep historical and spiritual significance. Dedicated to the Assumptionof the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is spiritually affiliated with the Basilica ofSaint Mary Major in Rome and has been designated a Marian pilgrimage site bythe Holy See. Pilgrims who visit on designated days may receive a plenaryindulgence.
