Once the location of the regional government officeand prison, this site witnessed the torture and punishment of many Catholicsaccused as criminals. The pilgrimage site is under the care of Seonggeon Churchand is located about 2 km away. Today, the Gyeongju Cultural Center standshere, along with preserved traditional buildings, courtyards, and stonemonuments.

About the Saint
Bl. Joseph Go Seong-un
Raised in the faith from childhood, Joseph GoSeong-un was known for his upright character and filial devotion, becoming amodel for other believers. After moving to Cheongsong, he continued hisCatholic life. Arrested during the Easter season of 1815, he was tortured inGyeongju and transferred to Daegu. Despite suffering, he steadfastly professedhis faith and was executed in Daegu as a martyr. He remained unmarriedthroughout his life.
