Thisparish church was built in 1970 with the support of the faithful to commemoratethe centenary of the Byeongin Persecution. Its architectural design symbolizesthe boat used by St. Andrew Kim Taegon when he traveled from China to Korea.The church grounds also contain the tombs of three martyrs, including BlessedJames Heo In-baek, as well as the relics of four priests, among them St. AndrewKim.

About the Saint

Blessed James Heo In-baek

Bornthe son of a farmer, Heo In-baek was baptized at age 24. He lived a life ofchastity, cared for the sick, and faithfully practiced the commandments. Whileliving in the mountains with fellow believers, he was arrested and tortured inGyeongju but steadfastly professed his faith. After receiving a death sentence,he proclaimed the name of Jesus and made the Sign of the Cross at the place ofexecution.
