Located in Cheonan-si (천안시), the Independence Hall of Korea (독립기념관) is a national memorial hall that honors the history of the Japanese colonial period and the Korean independence movement, and conveys that spirit to future generations. Inside, major materials and artifacts related to the independence movement, including the March 1st Movement (3·1운동), the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea (대한민국 임시정부), and the Heroic Corps (의열단), are systematically exhibited. Outdoors, the spire of the former main building of the Government-General of Korea (조선총독부), a symbol of the Japanese colonial period, is displayed. This structure, dismantled after liberation as a symbol of colonial rule, is now preserved at the Independence Hall as an educational artifact that awakens historical awareness.
