Gyesan Cathedral, the cathedral church of theArchdiocese of Daegu, was first dedicated in 1898 by Fr. Kim Bolok, who hadbeen ministering in Shinnamugol. Although the original traditional Korean-stylechurch was later destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt as the first Western-styleCatholic church in Daegu. Located in the city center, the cathedral also housesa museum displaying historical artifacts.
